When the first golf cart was created in 1932, it did not gain much of popularity. Golf carts became very popular and were bought in large scale by golf country clubs. Initially, these golf cars ran on electricity and this made it popular but later it got replaced by gasoline. However, electric gold carts are still used and the advantage with the electric ones is that it causes no pollution as there are no emissions.

Environment friendly solar powered gold carts have also come up. They contain a photovoltaic thin film panels on the roof of the car to harnessing sunlight. It is not only environment friendly but increases the driving distance of golf carts extending its battery life.

Golf carts are also modified for suitable use in the gold courses. Usually parts like the windshields, ball cleaners, cooler trays, and motor or speed controllers are modified in golf carts. These carts can be three or four wheeled vehicles. Golf cars usually cost between $3000 up to $15000. The price basically varies depending on how the gold cart is, its speed, weight, steering, and how many people it may accommodate.
